STEM STEPS Program
offers programming
that focuses on the
social, emotional, and
historical uniqueness
of the African
American culture.
Two Program Components:
- The STEM STEPS Scholars. The Scholar Program is designed to provide African American students with practical applications of math and science content in a culturally relevant, real world context. Specifically, this program offers intensive STEM and college awareness experiences to participating students through project based curriculum units and exploration activities.
- The Regional Parent Network(RPN). The RPN conducts culturally relevant outreach efforts and provides seminars, activities and services for parents/guardians. These activities support families with the skills, tools and resources necessary to advocate for their child as well as to be a partner with local schools, districts, and educational entities to enhance the education of African American students.
